Vegetarian BBQ Pizza

Again, I forgot with the pictures, but I'll blog anyway.

Dinner last night was a tasty vegetarian barbecue pizza, with sausage-style tempeh, onions, and barbecue sauce.  It was delicious, although next time I'm going to put more barbecue sauce and a little less tempeh on it. We had planned to make it vegan by using hummus instead of cheese, but the hummus did not survive our freezer.

Birthday Lunch

Yesterday was my birthday.  I ate way too much at both lunch and dinner.  Oh well.  One day a year is not a huge deal.

At the top left is a butternut squash soup.  I thought it was alright, but apparently later batches were too salty.  The main plate has a bunch of curry, but it was just OK, I don't even think I ate it all.

They had some tomato and mushroom pizza, so I had two small pieces of that.

I also had some of the Brussels sprouts.

And a piece of chocolate cake, since it was my birthday.

Open House Snacks

Our new campus had an open house for friends and family, and there were snacks there, so I had a few. I had a small sample of a strawberry and chocolate shake.
A tiny piece of cheese pizza.
And a small cup of french fries.

Frozen Pizza

I was working late last night, so when I got home, I found Kendra had started a Freschetta frozen pizza we had gotten at Safeway for about $3.50. All they had was meat-topped ones and cheese, so we got cheese, but Kendra added on some yellow bell pepper and some pineapple. Yum! The pizza was pretty small, so we both just had half of it.
Afterward, I wanted a light dessert, so I chopped up a peach and had it with some cottage cheese.
I also cut up a peach for Kendra, but she only wanted half, so I had the other half.

Pizza Again

We had pizza at work today. This one looked really good, but I had to pick off the olives.

There were also salads. I had two platefuls of salad, but I only remembered to take a picture of one.

What's this? Ahh yes, a piece of coconut cream pie.  I have to be careful for the rest of the day though!

Salad. Pizza. Grapes.

Today for lunch, they brought in some pizza from Zeeks, which, in the words of one of my coworkers, "is probably in my top 10 pizza places in Kirkland." Faint praise indeed. Unfortunately it was impossible to find a pizza with red sauce, no meat, and no olives.
In addition to pizza, they also ordered some salads. I chose to try the "Wild Green" with "organic wild greens, roma tomatoes, gorgonzola & cashews, with Zeeks own superior raspberry vinaigrette".
In addition to some of the salad, I had two moderately-sized pieces of pizza. One was "Sunshine", apparently new, with "sun-dried tomato, artichoke hearts, feta cheese, mozzarella cheese, and an olive oil glaze". The other was "Frog Belly Green", with "olive oil glaze, mozzarella, Zeeks own basil pesto, topped with roma tomatoes and a sprinkling of parmesan". I'm guessing the olive oil glaze was lower down on the second one?
The weather has been extremely nice here lately, so here's my plate outside, where I was able to eat with a nice view of Lake Washington. The pizza was uninspired. I did have to go back for more of the salad, though. Yum.
And a couple of grapes to sate the sweet tooth.
Here are some of the desserts I turned down, not including the freshly re-stocked ice cream freezer.
I didn't even bother to ask if the pie was banana cream or coconut cream.

Leftover Pizza

A slice of leftover pizza from the pizza I made last night. Trader Joe's garlic and herb crust, some pasta sauce from a can, shredded mozzarella from Costco, red bell pepper, pineapple, and roasted corn I rescued from work. All in all, a cheap meal.

When did leftovers switch from being lame to being awesome? I guess when I started having to cook the food myself.
